This is the day that newly elected President Franklin Roosevelt took the oath of office.  To pull America out of the depths of the Depression, he closed the banks and signed the Economy Act into law.

The Economy Act slashed the salaries of federal employees (they    didn't stay slashed). It also forced veterans to forgo part of their war benefits (some things never change).  The Economy Act also forced the federal government to shuffle various agencies in hopes of maximizing their cost efficiency (isn't that a oxymoron?).

Now that you've read all that BS, I have only one thing to say.  (I'm not going to say it here)
